چکیده

We report measured and calculated cross sections for elastic scattering of low-energy electrons by isopropanol (propan-2-ol). The experimental data were obtained using the relative flow technique with helium as the standard gas and a thin aperture as the collimating target gas source, which permits use of this method without the restrictions imposed by the relative flow pressure conditions on helium and the unknown gas. The differential cross sections were measured at energies of 1.5, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20, and 30 eV and for scattering angles from 10◦ to 130◦. The cross sections were computed over the same energy range employing the Schwinger multichannel method in the static-exchange plus polarization approximation. Agreement between theory and experiment is very good. The present data are compared with previously calculated and measured results for n-propanol, the other isomer of C3H7OH. Although the integral and momentum transfer cross sections for the isomers are very similar, the differential cross sections show a strong isomeric effect: In contrast to the f -wave behavior seen in scattering by n-propanol, d-wave behavior is observed in the cross sections of isopropanol. These results corroborate our previous observations in electron collisions with isomers of C4H9OH.

DISTORTION OF PLASMA DUE TO INSTALLATION OF AN ORIFICE IN HELIUM DISCHARGE POSITIVE COLUMN

Complicated potential structure formed at a constriction of positive column of a DC discharge with heated cathode in He at low discharge currents is investigated. Calculation and evaluation of energy deposition and S-value caused by low-energy electrons in a multicellular model using Geant4-DNA

Today, targeted radiation therapy (TRT) methods for cancer treatment, besides the goal of completely destroying the target tumor, attempts to prevent nearby healthy cells from exposure to ionizing radiation as far as possible. Hence, short-range charged particles, such as low-energy electrons that are suited to achieving these two goals together, play an important role in TRT and so, adoption o...

Microdosimetry study of a multicellular model with mono-energetic electrons using Geant4-DNA simulation toolkit

Introduction: The goal of any type of radiation therapy in the treatment of tumors, in addition to destroying cancer cells, is to minimizing radiation to nearby healthy cells and thus reducing side damages. For this purpose, targeted radiation therapy (TRT) is more effective in treating of single cells or small cluster of cells. The main factor in the success of this method is...

A Kinetic Study of Electron-Wall Collisions in a Hall Thruster

The role of electron-wall collisions in Hall thruster operation is studied through simulation of the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) inside the thruster channel. The electron Boltzmann equation is solved using the “local-field” approximation, using experimental results as input data. The equation takes into account inelastic losses due to ionizing collisions and wall-collisions, as...
